The Nevada Law Journal Presents Shadows of Confinement: Illuminating Public Health Struggles Behind Bars
When
Campus Location
Description
Public health concerns, whether in prisons, jails, and detention centers, pose an unprecedented risk to those detained. The symposium will critically examine the various ways in which public health issues affect those who are imprisoned, detained or otherwise subject to police supervision; how those issues have continued to run rampart and possible solutions.
The symposium will feature an extraordinary lineup of voices addressing critical public health and justice issues. Highlights include presentations from our accomplished authors, whose work will be published in the third issue of this year’s Volume 25. We are honored to welcome Professor Margo Schlanger of the University of Michigan Law School as our keynote speaker, who is a leading authority on civil rights and detention systems. Additionally, a panel of Nevada-based activists will offer valuable insights into pressing issues impacting our local community.
