The weekly proseminar speaker series hosted by the Department of Anthropology invites:

Speaker: Jack Bish

Synopsis: This lecture explores the biological and cultural dimensions of mummification across time and space. By examining natural and intentional mummification processes, we will discuss how preservation informs our understanding of ancient societies, health, and funerary practices. The presentation will also introduce forensic and bioarchaeological techniques used to study mummified remains, offering insights into past populations’ lives and environments.
