Nishan Ganimian's MFA thesis art exhibition, "Love Is A Place," is an exploration of ceramics as archival material. Through the lens of objecthood, the medium is utilized to record and solidify queer histories. Ganimian's hope is that their artwork will live on as documentation of their own experience and will relay the message of love, light and life to those who reside in the future.

The exhibition will be on view from April 8 to 19, with a closing reception sponsored by SanCus scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. on April 19.

About the Artist

Nishan Ganimian is an interdisciplinary artist who explores storytelling through her art practice. She received her BFA from Pratt Institute, where she began working in theater. Nishan was afforded the opportunity to participate in a paper theater and dramaturgy workshop with the puppet masters of the Union Internationale de la Marionette in Charleville-Mézières, France. She has continued to work with director and designer, Theodora Skipitares, as a scenic artist and puppeteer on her productions of There’s Blood at the Wedding (2018) and The Transfiguration of Benjamin Banneker (2020) at La Mama Theatre in Manhattan, NY. Ganimian lives and works in Las Vegas where she is pursuing her MFA in art at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Recent projects include the curatorial project, Raggedy Stan’s Playpen, in Grant Hall Gallery at UNLV, as well as the fiber artist on the Art Department Las Vegas design team for Meow Wolf’s Life is Beautiful installation at the old Western Hotel in September of 2023.
