Description
Workshop Overview: This in-person workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of Grounded Theory, with a particular focus on Constructivist Grounded Theory (CGT), combining theoretical insights with practical application. This workshop is ideal for scholars seeking to develop specialized analytical skills in Grounded Theory.
Goals: At the end of the workshop participants will be able to understand the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of Grounded Theory, its purpose, and practices. Participants will also be able to analyze data using open, focus, and theoretical coding, assess the quality of Grounded Theory research projects, and apply CGT in their own research.
Post-Workshop: Participants will receive the PowerPoint presentation used during the workshop and a list of recommended readings for further exploration of CGT.
Workshop Structure:
- Session 1 (60 minutes): Theoretical Overview
- Session 2 (90 minutes): Group Activity
- Conclusions
Facilitator: Noa Vana, Ph.D., Medical Anthropologist. Vana has written on social and cultural aspects of cognitive disabilities and mental health problems. Her recent project engaged CGT in a study on Ultra-Orthodox men with gambling disorder in Israel.
