In this workshop, panelists will provide an inside look into the multifaceted life of a faculty member, focusing on the key responsibilities of research, teaching, and service. Aspiring academics will gain a deeper understanding of the expectations and demands of each of these areas, from conducting research and publishing in academic journals to designing and delivering impactful courses, and engaging in service to their institutions and communities. Panelists will share insights into balancing these roles, building a successful academic career, and navigating the challenges that come with faculty life. Whether you're considering a career in academia or preparing for your first faculty position, this workshop will help you develop a realistic perspective on the academic profession.
