Description

Are you considering graduate school and have questions about applying? Whether you have family members with graduate degrees or you are a first-generation college student, the application process can be intimidating. The Grad Academy is here to help dispel myths about graduate school, answer your questions, and help you realize your potential. This workshop will teach you the ins and outs of identifying graduate programs and preparing your applications. You will learn about all the typical application materials, including cover letters, personal statements, resumes and curricula vitae (CV), transcripts, letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores (i.e., GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT). Finally, you will learn which of these materials are most important for the type of graduate degree you wish to pursue, whether that is a master’s degree, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), or Juris Doctor (J.D.).

By participating in this workshop you will:

  • Identify potential graduate programs
  • Investigate application deadlines
  • Build an application
  • Learn how to effectively ask for a letter of recommendation
  • Register for entrance exams & find study materials
