Description

Welcome to the GPSA Council at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas!

All graduate students are welcomed and encouraged to attend GPSA Council meetings.

The Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) Council is the legislative branch within the graduate student government at UNLV. Dedicated to enriching the student experience, Council efforts focus on academic and professional development, research, community involvement, and connecting the student body and campus administration, ensuring the voices of UNLV’s graduate student body are heard and included in university governance. The GPSA Council is composed of representatives from each department that offers graduate and professional degree programs at UNLV.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters. Please note the exceptions in September and March when meetings occur on the second Thursday, and that there are no meetings in January due to Winter Break.

Council meetings serve as a dynamic platform for voicing student needs and discussing academic and professional matters, fostering community and campus engagement. The GPSA Council holds the power to guide organizational priorities, adopt resolutions to advance the interests of graduate and professional students, and shape policy. Through its designated committees, the Council also disburses scholarships, research grants, and travel allowances based on merit or financial need, supporting academic and professional development. Additionally, the Council oversees the GPSA budget, allocating funds for numerous programs and events designed to enrich the graduate student experience.

Stay informed about developments that affect your academic and professional journeys. GPSA meetings are hybrid and open to the public—in line with Nevada’s Open Meeting Law—and meeting agendas are posted online and around campus at least three days prior, so feel free to drop by and see graduate student government at work!
