GPSA Council Meeting
Campus Location
Office/Remote Location
Description
The GPSA Council at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas convenes monthly, on the first Thursday at 5:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters. Comprising 51 appointed representatives, each endowed with a vote, the Council functions as a voice and advocate within the graduate student government. It serves as a key advocacy and governance body for graduate and professional students at UNLV, addressing academic and professional concerns, enacting GPSA policy changes, and fostering community engagement. This collaboration extends to the Executive Board, diverse internal and external committees, and faculty advisors who guide its operations.
The Council also includes an unlimited number of non-voting members-at-large, representing broader interests and perspectives of the graduate student body without specific department affiliations. This structure enhances the Council's ability to represent a wide array of student needs and viewpoints, reinforcing a shared governance framework that supports the entire graduate community.
The Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA) is dedicated to fostering support, advocacy, and camaraderie among graduate and professional students, with a focus on enhancing scholarship, research, and community engagement.
In adherence to Nevada Open Meeting Law, agendas for all GPSA Council meetings are made available on-campus and online at least three business days prior to each scheduled meeting date. All members of the community are welcome to participate and stay informed about graduate student governance.
