Description

Join over 200 UNLV students for our semesterly tradition, Service Day. This Spring Service Day, go out and do three hours of service with various community partners around the Las Vegas Valley. Tasks vary depending on what the community partner may need but volunteers can expect to lift heavy items, be consistently moving throughout the day and doing all sorts of repetitive tasks. Please make sure you wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. No exceptions will be made for anyone wearing otherwise. Long-sleeve shirt also highly encouraged.

Volunteers will meet at the Student Union in SU 208. Please make sure to arrive on time at 8 a.m. to meet with your group and participate in a short educational activity with your volunteer group.

Transportation is limited to only a few select sites and is not provided to Opportunity Village. We strongly encourage carpooling to the site to facilitate and make things easier for all participants. Please stay afterwards to join us for our post service celebration with free food and other vendors!

Since 1954, Opportunity Village has been dedicated to helping people with disabilities find the very best version of themselves. Through workforce development, community employment, day services, inclusive housing, arts and social recreation, they are able to find new friends, realize future career paths, seek independence and community integration, and unleash creative passions. Opportunity Village thrives with the funding from our social enterprises, signature events and the generous philanthropy of our donors and community partners. Together, we are successfully empowering, employing, and serving people with disabilities – positively impacting lives.

Volunteers can assist the Opportunity Village team in setting up and preparing their HallOVeen event at the Magical Forest, a family-friendly Halloween Experience benefitting Opportunity Village.
