Description
The Las Vegas Sun spent several months exploring community challenges created by lack of treatment for children with mental health problems. The Las Vegas Sun spoke with parents and siblings, educators, doctors, judges, social workers, and state leaders for our series of stories, "Children in Crisis."
Join the Lincy Institute and UNLV School of Social Work for a community forum with several co-sponsors and parents to continue the dialogue. As the state begins revamping its delivery system for children's mental health services, now is the time for parents and caregivers, health providers and others affected to weigh in.
The event will be moderated by Jackie Valley, reporter for the Las Vegas Sun, with comments from Ramona Denby-Brinson, senior resident scholar for social services with The Lincy Institute and professor in the UNLV School of Social Work.
Panelists:
- Dr. LaTricia Coffey (psychiatrist)
- Helen Melendez (parent)
- Charlene Frost (Nevada PEP/parent)
- Karen Taycher (Nevada PEP/parent)
- Jacqueline Harris (marriage and family therapist/Clark County Children's Mental Health Consortium representative, UNLV School of Social Work part-time instructor)
