Description

In co-sponsorship with Brookings Mountain West at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Claremont Graduate University (CGU) was pleased to present, In Conversation featuring Brookings Institution Senior Fellow Camille Busette. With the presidential election behind us, the next administration must tackle the difficult conversations that, over the past several months, have led to this moment—the social upheaval, accusations of systemic racism, and the dire need for greater inclusion of under-represented groups. How do we repair the rift in our country? How do we build “a more perfect union?” Acclaimed Brookings Institution diversity, equity, and inclusion authority Camille Busette is uniquely qualified to offer her thoughts. CGU President Len Jessup and UNLV Executive Director of Brookings Mountain West Robert E. Lang offer a no-holds-barred virtual In Conversation exploring the question, “what next?”

Camille M. Busette, Ph.D., is a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies with affiliated appointments in Economic Studies and the Metropolitan Policy programs. She is the Director of the Race, Prosperity, and Inclusion Initiative, Brookings’s cross-program initiative focused on issues of equity, racial justice, and economic mobility for low-income communities and communities of color. At Brookings, her work focuses on systemic racism, the economic advancement of Black and Native American boys, the importance of social relationships to economic mobility, and equity in healthcare and in local and state government policy priorities and builds on her work for low-income populations at EARN (now SaverLife) and the Center for American Progress.
