Beginner Bird Walk at The Center for Urban Water Conservation
Office/Remote Location
Description
Join Red Rock Audubon and the Center for Urban Water Conservation for a tour of the orchards, greenhouses, beehives and birds! A member of the staff will give the tour to explain their mission and show us what is being grown and what research is being done. This event is perfect for beginner birders as most of the birds we will see are the most common birds seen in our yards and parks.
The Center for Urban Water Conservation houses both University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, Reno Extension Research and Demonstration Orchard. The two areas are open to each other and we will be viewing both sides of the property. You may park along Horse Road and then enter through the green gate on the eastern side of the property.
The Cooperative Extension side also sells whatever fruits and vegetables are in season so plan on checking out the produce for sale!
The property has dirt paths and we will also be walking in the orchard among the fruit trees. There are also active beehives. Be sure to bring sun protection, water, and binoculars and cameras if you have them. Restrooms are available.
