Description
“Kryptos 83.798: Light Works by Pasha Rafat”
Pasha Rafat’s light works echo the work of a group of 20th century artists whose interest lay in real and physical phenomena of light rather than illusory materials used to represent it. Of specific interest to his research are the Russian Constructivists and their emphasis on the transparency of material. The second area of interest is the California Light and Space artists’ exploration of perceptual, spatial and atmospheric aspects of light.
The artist’s recent investigations are the subject of “Kryptos 83.798,” with a floor installation made specifically for this exhibition occupying nearly half the floor.
