
The Harrah College of Hospitality is seeking two student content creators who will help create video and photo content for various social media platforms of the college (@unlvhospitality).
The content creator position will support the College by producing digital content that represents an authentic look into the student experience as a Hospitality student at UNLV. Students in this role will be tasked with creating different kinds of content based on their experience and interests. This could include: “A day in the life of a Hospitality College student” video series; “Come with me on this insider tour;” weekly vlogs; interviews with students and faculty, Instagram Reels, photography and other content used to showcase the life of a Hospitality Rebel.
Students in this role will have a point-of-contact within the College’s Marketing and Communications Office to share ideas, brainstorm, and provide review of the material.
Students can anticipate working 10-15 hours per week, with compensation starting at $13 per hour.
Applications will be reviewed starting March 20, 2025.
Position Duties:
- Each week students will work together to pitch content ideas informed by social media trends, College of Hospitality events, etc. They will then be assigned content production based on their experience, interest, and availability. Students will also be encouraged to collaborate with each other on content ideation and execution.
- Students will be given some initial direction and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the College of Hospitality, but will be responsible for the creative concept and execution.
- Students should feel comfortable creating videos and being on camera as the subject and/or interviewer.
- Students must attend at least one off-campus college event per month for content creation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must meet academic standing requirements of UNLV and be enrolled in the Harrah College of Hospitality. Students on academic suspension are not eligible.
- Must meet the minimal enrollment requirements: Undergraduate/Graduate student: 6 credit hours per semester.
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Comfortable and confident being on camera.
- Willing to share personal student experiences
- Experience using Instagram & Instagram Reels, YouTube, and/or TikTok
- Students are not required to have personal accounts on all networks or large following, but should have general knowledge of how various social media platforms work and a general understanding of which audiences they serve.
- Commitment to creating authentic content that enhances the opinion of the Harrah College of Hospitality.
- Own a smartphone capable of taking short videos. The College will provide filming accessories such as lighting and tripods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Although not required, experience creating TikTok, Instagram Reels, or other short-form vertical video content is a plus along with photography and photo/video editing skills.
