The Violin/Viola 'Duo Novae' (associate professors Ambroise Aubrun and Kate Hamilton) were recently on a tour of New Zealand and Australia during which they gave recitals, masterclasses, and presented lectures in Dunedin, Sydney, and Melbourne. They worked with faculty and students from the University of Otago, the Sydney Conservatorium, and the Melbourne String Academy.
In other news, Auburn’s album with harpsichordist Mireille Podeur, featuring the complete Sonatas for Harpsichord and Violin by J.S Bach, has been receiving international attention.
The album was awarded 5 stars on On-Mag.fr (France), 5 stars on Pizzicato Magazine (Luxembourg), and was selected as a "Special Choice Album" by ClassiqueNews (France).
Translated quotes:
"The vision of Ambroise Aubrun and Mireille Podeur, both graduates from the Paris Conservatory, can easily be measured against the greatest versions [of these Bach Sonatas ...] thanks to the naturalness of the approach and a real complicity. [...]" Jean-Pierre Robert, On-Mag.fr
“Elegance, style, virtuosity, liveliness. What more could one ask for? One cannot play these sonatas for obbligato harpsichord and violin more beautifully and authentically. Here two musicians work together who can breathe, who make Bach’s music fly.” Alan Steven, Pizzicato Magazine.
