The Rebel Recycling program is an integral part of UNLV’s commitment to sustainability. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the university’s recycling services and protocols to ensure we’re all doing our part to contribute to a greener campus: 

• Rebel Recycling empties hallway bins every week
  • Each building has a specified schedule. Contact your building’s FM liaison for your schedule.
• Recycling bins are located in each office and common areas in each building
• Rebel Recycling team members do not have keys to offices and therefore cannot enter offices to empty deskside containers. 
  • When your deskside bin is full, please empty it in the nearest common area receptacle. 
• All recyclables should be empty, clean, and dry. The following items are recyclable:
  • Paper
    • Office paper
    • Newspaper
    • Envelopes
    • Junk mail
    • Magazines
    • Books
    • Cereal type boxes
    • Frozen food boxes
    • File folders
    • Poster board
    • Ream wrappers
  • Cardboard
    • Cardboard shipping boxes (please flatten and place next to or by the bins)
  • Aluminum and steel/tin
    • Aluminum beverage cans
    • Food cans (quickly rinsed)
    • Scrap metal (do not put in the office recycling bin; request a special pick up)
• Plastic bottles/containers
  • No plastic bags, plastic film/wrap, fast food/fountain cups, styrofoam, bubble wrap, or rubber
• Glass containers
  • Beverage containers
  • Food jars

• Rebel Recycling can assist with special pick-up of the following items:
  • Recyclable materials that do not fit into a unit's recycling bins such as:
    • Oversized cardboard
    • Bags of shredded paper
  • Boxes of binders/reusable items
  • Ink and toner cartridges
    • Ink and toner cartridges must be separated from other items. Please place them next to your recycling bin
  • Shred toter exchanges
• To schedule a special pick-up, please complete the Request for Special Pick-Up Form online
• Proper recycling will keep bins clean and dry. However, we realize accidents happen. If your bin needs to be cleaned, please contact Rebel Recycling at 702-895-3760 for assistance. They will make arrangements to pick up and clean your bin.
