On June 28 UNLV senior leadership announced several key actions being taken to support UNLV's financial stability. One of those actions is the implementation of a two month hiring freeze on all existing state vacancies. Please see below for additional information pertaining to the hiring freeze, which is effective immediately.
Classified Recruitments
Recruitments for vacancies may continue, however, employees may not be hired into state-funded vacancies prior to August 16. If an employee is hired into a state-funded vacancy prior to that date, the unit must identify and assign a self-supporting costing allocation to the position until August 16.
Administrative Recruitments
Recruitments for vacancies may continue, however, employees may not be hired into state-funded vacancies prior to August 1. If an employee is hired into a state-funded vacancy prior to that date, the unit must identify and assign a self-supporting costing allocation to the position until August 1.
For many recruitments the impact of this hiring freeze will only result in a slight delay in the recruitment process and timing of hire. For those positions that must be filled prior to August 1 and August 16, units may move forward with the hire but must identify and assign a non-state costing allocation until those dates.
