On October 9th, Julie brought their high-energy headlining tour to 24 Oxford in Las Vegas, just weeks after opening for Alex G on his summer tour. While their opening set for Alex G was a glimpse into their potential, Julie's "My Anti-Aircraft Friend" tour, promoting their newly released noisy shoegaze album yours truly, showcases the band's full power. This Vegas stop was only their second date on the North American leg of the tour, but the performance left a lasting impression.
The show solidified my fascination with the band. Now, having experienced Julie as headliners, I’m glad I stuck around for more. The trio—Alexandria Elizabeth, Dillon Lee, and Keyan Pourzand—command the stage with a sonic force that makes their music impossible to resist. Their performance had the crowd headbanging and feeling every thundering bass note deep in their bones. The atmosphere was electric, with mosh pits forming and impromptu crowd surfs adding to the wild, house-party energy of the night.
Tracks like “Stuck in a Car with Angels” showcased the band’s dynamic range. The song starts with an intimate tone before building into a crescendo, seamlessly taking the audience from calm introspection to high-octane excitement in a matter of moments. Julie's ability to play with these extremes highlights their musical depth and keeps their growing fanbase on their toes.
With each performance, Julie continues to gain momentum, and it’s clear they’re a band on the rise. Their blend of intense energy and intricate musicianship ensures they’ll be on the radar for music lovers everywhere. Don’t miss your chance to see them live—Julie is a band that’s only getting bigger.
