Charles Han, Mechanical Engineering (Nuclear Track) PhD Candidate
May. 29, 2024

Charles Han is a Ph.D. student in the Mechanical Engineering program (Nuclear Engineering  track) supported by the Nuclear Security Science and Technology Consortium (NSSTC) at UNLV. With Prof. Alex Barzilov as the advisor, his research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of wide bandgap perovskite semiconductors for ambient temperature gamma-ray detectors. He investigates inorganic perovskites which are promising for crystal design using the Bridgman technique. In this project, he collaborates with faculty and students of the University of New Mexico. He learned skills such as transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction analysis, and photoluminescence analysis. Charles was a summer intern at the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS).
