Artists 4 Democracy: Civic Engagement Talk and Voter Registration Party
Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art Auditorium and Lobby
Tuesday, October 15, 2024: 6–7 p.m. (voter registration party); 7 p.m. (talk)
On Tuesday, October 15, the members of the nonpartisan Artists 4 Democracy collective—artists Deborah Aschheim, Marisa J. Futernick, Bronwyn Mauldin, and Lee Webster—will be here at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art to tell us how their diverse studio practices have evolved to include a focus on civic and community engagement.
This free public talk starts in the Museum auditorium at 7 p.m.—but turn up from 6–7 if you’d like to join them in our lobby for a voting registration party with pizza.
Artists 4 Democracy will be in the lobby again on Wednesday, October 16, from 12–1:30 p.m. for a free community zine workshop in partnership with the A4 Zine Club; and on Thursday and Friday (October 17, 18) for drop-in events where you can chat with them about voting and the democratic process (12–1 p.m.). Find out more about the zine workshop at https://www.unlv.edu/announcement/marjorie-barrick-museum-art/zine-workshop-artists-4-democracy

About the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art
The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art believes everyone deserves access to art that challenges our understanding of the present and inspires us to create a future that holds space for us all. Located on the campus of one of the most racially diverse universities in the U.S., we strive to create a nourishing environment for those who continue to be neglected by contemporary art museums. As the only art museum in the city of Las Vegas, we commit ourselves to leveling barriers that limit access to the arts. Our collection of artworks offers an opportunity for everyone to develop a deeper knowledge of contemporary art in Southern Nevada. The Barrick Museum is part of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
