The 83rd (2025) Session of the Nevada Legislature will begin on February 3, 2025, and Rebels are already busy working on UNLV’s agenda for the session. Much of this pre-session work involves connecting with our partners to get input on and gain support for the university’s legislative agenda. And, since 2013, a key partnership UNLV has relied upon to help guide its legislative agenda is with The Southern Nevada Forum.
Started in 2013, the Southern Nevada Forum is hosted by the Vegas Chamber to facilitate collaboration among leaders from diverse sectors to address critical issues impacting Southern Nevada. The forum's purpose is to collect ideas that address the priorities of the people of Southern Nevada for legislators to draft as bills in the upcoming legislative session.
The forum provides an avenue for Nevadans to participate in the legislative process and voice the issues that matter most to them. The Southern Nevada Forum serves the population center of Nevada by bringing legislators to the people's table to address our needs.
There are five Southern Nevada Forum committees which focus on economic development and workforce, K-12 and higher education, good governance, healthcare, and transportation and infrastructure.
The forum meets each biennium in the off-cycle year to determine what regional priorities will be addressed during the upcoming legislative session. The first meeting focused on the next Nevada Legislative Session took place on February 13th. To learn more and/or get involved, please visit the Southern Nevada Forum’s webpage.
