The Office of Research Integrity - Human Subjects (ORI-HS) would like to notify the UNLV research community that ORI-HS is in the process of modifying the submission form for initial studies submitted in the IRB management system, Cayuse.
Features of the new submission form include:
- Creating specific pathways for exclusion determinations and exempt studies, to streamline the process for research which either does not require IRB review (exclusions) or which qualifies for exempt review
- Enhancing the use of branching logic within the form to keep questions relevant to the type of research procedures being used in a study
- Leveraging instructional text to help elicit necessary information from study teams more completely and efficiently in the initial submission, allowing for fewer rounds of changes during pre-review
An official rollout date is not yet set, but rollout is anticipated later this fall. More information on the rollout of this revised submission form will be shared in various forums, including in the Researcher Resource Center, which is accessible to anyone with UNLV credentials, by using these access instructions. Other venues to look for more information include UNLV Today, and the Office of Research newsletter.
For more information on the revised form or the rollout, or to schedule a demonstration of some of the new form features, please contact Nyssa Towsley, Interim Assistant Director for Human Subjects, at nyssa.towsley@unlv.edu.
