The Haumana ‘O Pasifika Research Internship Program provides career development and mentored-research opportunities for undergraduate students or recent college graduates who are considering an advanced degree in health science or medicine. It is designed to encourage and enable research and career development opportunities for undergraduate students or recent graduates who are interested in studying health disparities affecting Pacific Islanders. Selected applicants will be paired with scientific mentors for a 10-week summer research internship. Haumana Scholars will attend weekly seminars designed to:
- Increase exposure to the breadth of Utah’s research community;
- Enhance career development and networking opportunities; and
- Enhance the trainee’s skills in scientific communicatio
Selected applications will receive:
- A living stipend of $5,833
- Travel to/from Salt Lake City
10-weeks of research training focused on: *obesity *diabetes *kidney disease *genetics *epidemiology *outreach *nutrition *heart disease *circadian biology
ELIGIBILITY
- Completed 2+ yrs of College
- Interest in research related to the regulation of body weight, blood glucose, nutrition, or health
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
