Congratulations to Lauren Markey, administrative assistant IV in the Department of Sociology, on receiving the inaugural Classified Staff Member of the Year award in the College of Liberal Arts.

The award recognizes an exemplary classified staff member for job performance, professionalism, and dedication and carries a $1,000 prize.

“Lauren has singlehandedly kept our department running through multiple staff transitions over the past four months. She has taken on new tasks with enthusiasm and shows a marked eagerness to improve her skills in all areas. Even as she has taken on a multitude of additional tasks, she does so with a cheerfulness that cannot be matched,” one nominator wrote about Markey.

Dean Jennifer Keene and college business manager Kathy Levasseur presented Markey the award at the annual classified staff holiday luncheon on Dec. 11.
