Film director Rod Blackhurst is partnering with UNLV Film for two projects this fall.
First, on Sept. 26, Blackhurst and producer Noah Lang will take students through the process of test screening films by screening the as-of-yet unreleased horror film Dolly. Those present at the screening will be allowed to submit private feedback and hear about what happens in this process directly from both the director and producer. Entry to the screening and talk-back are free and open to the public, but RSVP is required.
Rod Blackhurst is best known as the Emmy and Critics Choice nominated director and producer of the Netflix original AMANDA KNOX and the crime thriller BLOOD FOR DUST starring Scoot McNairy, Kit Harington, Josh Lucas, Ethan Suplee, and Stephen Dorff.
Lang is a two time Independent Spirit Award nominated producer and partner at Witchcraft Motion Picture Company. Features he’s produced have played festivals including Cannes, Telluride, Sundance, TIFF, Deauville, SXSW, Tribeca, BFI London, and numerous others and been distributed by partners such as Sony Pictures Classics, Netflix, HBOMax, eOne, and Hulu.
Dolly logline: A young woman, Macy, fights for survival after being abducted by a deranged, monster-like figure who wants to raise Macy as their child.
Dolly stars Fabianne Therese, Seann William Scott, Ethan Suplee and Max The Imapler.
Blackhurst will next visit campus in November 2024 to shoot a proof-of-concept for his next film with students working on the film and shadowing the crew during production.
