NIAE Research Assistant

The National Institute for the Advancement of Education (NIAE) invites applicants for the position of Research Assistant. In collaboration with the Research Associate, the Research Assistant will support the faculty working on research activities by implementing the interdisciplinary grant programs, focusing on educator preparation, educator retention, educational services, school/community partnerships, and others. This position is well suited for a person with research training interested in the implementation of mixed research methods and the administration of grants.   Candidates working on their masters or doctoral degrees are encouraged to apply.

The candidate will also support NIAE projects as assigned by the Manager.

This position is well suited for a person with social and behavioral research training. While candidates with doctoral degrees are preferred, master’s students with comparable experience are encouraged to apply.

This position is project-based with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon funding. Travel between schools and sites may be necessary for this position to meet the needs of NIAE active projects. The candidate must be able to complete a successful background check. Reliable transportation is required.

NIAE Fellowships

The National Institute for the Advancement of Education (NIAE), housed at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) College of Education, is looking for faculty partners and graduate students interested in working on research projects focusing on the use of research evidence in educational policy. The fellows will work on research activities by implementing the interdisciplinary grant programs, focusing on educator preparation, educator retention, educational services, school/community partnerships, and others.

Through a paid fellowship, the right candidate will join a group of experts working on evaluation and design to maximize the use of evidence in decision-making in K-20 educational spaces. While there is not a disciplinary requirement, applicants should be passionate about the connection between research and practice in the education sphere.

Interested researchers should have experience in either quantitative or qualitative methodologies, though previous experience with mixed methods design is preferred. Necessary skills will include, but not be limited to, sampling techniques, survey design, quantitative analysis, interviewing, transcribing and coding interview data, and qualitative analysis.

This position is project-based with the possibility of renewal for up to two years, contingent upon performance and availability of funding.
