UNLV's Master of Science in Cybersecurity program has been ranked #2 in the nation by Fortune for 2025. This recognition highlights the university's commitment to providing a top-tier education that prepares students for the rapidly growing cybersecurity field. Developed in partnership between the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering and the Lee Business School, the program offers students a unique blend of technical and business expertise, ensuring they are well-equipped to tackle today’s evolving cyber threats.

A primary factor for Fortune in considering the nation’s top cybersecurity master’s programs was the institution being recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C), which UNLV is. Sponsored jointly by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the goal of the program is to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense.

While the above designation accounts for 20% of Fortune’s methodology, additional data weighed include graduation rates, one-year retention rates, average undergraduate GPA, and more.

To further expand the program’s reach and accessibility, UNLV recently introduced Nevada’s first online interdisciplinary cybersecurity program to help meet the critical shortage in the nation’s cybersecurity workforce.
