In most presidential election years, home prices aren’t a key issue for voters or a major campaign talking point. Consider it another way in which the 2024 election is anything but typical. With mortgage rates up and home prices out of reach for many first-time buyers, the affordability crisis is increasingly in the spotlight as campaign season heats up.

Condo and townhome prices in Southern Nevada reached an all-time high in April 2024. Single-family homes have priced many out of the market as well. Experts said the cost is driven up by a myriad of things including low inventory and cash investors.

The Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) was established in 1975. CBER conducts applied research vital to business and government. CBER cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of the UNLV's research community throughout the state of Nevada and the country.

UNLV’s Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management aspires to be the premier academic insurance and risk management program in the Western United States by supporting students, faculty, staff, and local industry studying and working in this field.

In 2011 the UNLV College of Business was renamed the Lee Business School after receiving a transformational gift from local real estate developers and casino owners, Ted and Doris Lee. The generous gift has made several endowments possible for both students and faculty.
