The Sociology Department offers an interdisciplinary Minor in Religious Studies open to students across the university. Students learn to explore the varied ways human beings find meaning, purpose, and wonder in their lives; engage in comparative, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary studies that complement a variety of undergraduate majors across the university; and communicate the complex ways that religion and spirituality intersect with political, social, and cultural dynamics across time and place.

The Department of Sociology offers courses that inspect concerns about human behavior, social life, and social change. Students examine topics such as crime; economic inequalities; gender; leisure and sports; marriage and family; occupations; race and ethnic relations; and religion.
