Biography

Janel Wilkinson Doll was born and raised in Japan where she first developed an interest in learning about diverse people and cultures. Janel received her B.A. in intercultural studies from Biola University; MA in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) from Azusa Pacific University (APU); and Ph.D. in cross-cultural education from Biola University. She has served on the faculty of University of California-Irvine; Concordia University-Irvine; and Azusa Pacific University, teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in global studies, education, and English/communications. She has also served as an academic advisor and liaison to international students at APU. She is currently an instructor in the first- and second-year seminar program at UNLV.

Research Expertise

Intercultural engagement, linguistic acquisition and development, and course development for effective linguistic and cultural transition for international students on American college campuses.
